A Nepali student drowned in a lake at Jahurul Islam Medical College in Bajitpur upazila early Thursday. The deceased was identified as Rajon Para Juli, 25, a Nepali national and a fifth year student of MBBS of the college and resident of Majedul Islam Hall. The hall sources said Juli went missing from the hall on Wednesday night and his mobile phone was found switched off.
Students of the college found the floating body of Juli in the lake early in the morning and informed police.
Later, law enforces recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-charge of Bajitpur Police Station Subrata Kumar Shah, quoting the deceased’s fellows, said Juli might have drowned in the lake as he did not know how to swim.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
