Outgoing ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh Prof. Dr. Chop Lal Bhusal and his spouse made a farewell call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office here on Tuesday. Dr Bhusal thanked the Prime Minister for her government’s support in discharging his duties in Bangladesh. He particularly recalled the support of the Foreign Minister and Commerce Ministry with gratitude. Briefing reporters after the meeting PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said they discussed various issues relating to mutual interests particularly cooperation on hydrological electricity and communication sectors.
The envoy said his country wants to export hydroelectricity to Bangladesh. A proposal of Bangladesh to import 500 MW power from Nepal will get priority in the coming business summit in Nepal, he said. The Prime Minister renewed her proposal to Nepal to use Syedpur Airport which is being developed as a regional airport which distance is only in 20 minutes by air from eastern Nepal.
