SAFF U-19: Nepal clinch maiden title beating India 5-4 in tie-breaker

Hosts Nepal clinched the six-nation First South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Championship title with all-win record beating India by 5-4 goals in tie breaker at ANFA Complex, Saldobato in Lalitpur, Kathmandu on Saturday.
The final match between two teams was locked in 1-1 goals in the stipulated 90-minute and the match rolled to direct tie-breaker session to decide the champions.
In the stipulated period, Tej Tamang scored for Nepal in the 31st minute while Shahbaz scored match-equalizer for India in the 88th minute from a penalty.
In the penalty shoot-out, Mainuddin of India spoiled the first chance while Hayden, Sarthak Gauli, Daniel and Shahbaz converted the spot kick. On the other hand, all the five Nepalese attempts of Hemanta Thapa, Sunil Bal, Biswas Shrestha, Dana Thapa and Ananta Tamang successfully converted to win the maiden title of SAFF Under-19 Championship.
Earlier, Bangladesh was eliminated from the semifinal of the SAFF Under-19 Championship losing to India by 3-4 goals in sudden death session of tie breaker.
