The negligence of the bus driver caused the fatal road accident that claimed ten lives, including microbus driver in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj district on Friday afternoon, Highway Police have claimed.
Hashara Highway Police Outpost In-Charge Inspector Md Abdul Based said that vehicles are now temporarily plying through the single lane on the highway near the accident spot, as another lane was blocked for development work.
“The speed of a vehicle should be no more than 30 km per hour on that specific road point. But, seeing the destroyed microbus, we can assume that the bus hit the vehicle at a speed between 70- 80 km per hour,” he said.
The police official said, “Though the microbus was traveling on the designated side, the bus driver lost his control over the steering and rammed the microbus.”The Dhaka-bound microbus, which was carrying a groom’s party from Louhajang upazila in Munshiganj, met a head-on collision with the bus of Swadhin Paribahan on the Dhaka-Mawa highway in Shologhar area on Friday afternoon.
Ten people, including five women and children, were killed and 13 others injured in the accident.
A case was filed against the bus driver with Sreenagar Police Station on Friday night.
