State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman on Sunday informed that needy families will be able to get food assistance at home through calling the hotline number ‘333’.
“This year, food storage is less than the previous year. Some 5 lakh mts of rice have been imported from India. There will be no problem in relief distribution once the government purchases boro paddy,” he said.
Last year, the government had given food and financial assistance to a large number of people including
the marginal population who became jobless following clamp down of restriction due to coronavirus pandemic, he said, adding this year, Tk 574,09,27,000 has also been sanctioned at the PM’s instruction to tackle the second wave of coronavirus.
“The ministry has also allocate more money for all city corporations to distribute baby food these will benefit 24 lakh families,” he informed.
He added: Tk 121 crore GR cash and Tk 472 crore have been allocated under VGF while Tk 57 lakh sanctioned for each large city corporation and Tk 32 lakh for small one.
Besides, pourasava and unions have also been given allocations.
