Staff Reporter: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday said that personal protective equipment (PPE) still do not needed.
“We still do not need PPE that desperately. We are well-prepared,” said the Health Minister while addressing a press briefing at his ministry in the capital.
The health minister said, “No one makes PPE preemptively. None can prepare everything in advance.”
He said,” We had preparation and that is why we managed to quarantine 20,000 people.”
Zahid Maleque said that the government has been preparing machinery to diagnose coronavirus.
“We could test 250 people so far. We are preparing to build new labs for three months,” he said.
The minister said that almost all international flights except for two to three have been cancelled so far. The rest may be halted by tomorrow (Tuesday).
He also urged the returnees from abroad to self-quarantine and inform the concerned authority about it.
The health minister urged all to work together saying, `nothing can be achieved by only blaming each other.’
