The ITEE, presently mutually recognized by 12 Asian countries, is basically a national standardized examination of Japan for IT professionals where five to six lakh IT students and IT professionals attended every year.
Bangladesh IT-engineers Examination Center (BD-ITEC) under Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry introduced the examination in the country under a project titled Capacity Building on ITEE Management with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Besides, a group of Nepalese IT policy makers also observed the examination as they would also like to introduce ITEE in their country. One of the objectives of introducing ITEE in the country is to give international branding to Bangladesh IT professionals. The certificate of ITEE examination will help the local Bangladeshi IT professionals to get international jobs around the globe.
Bangladesh has already showed its high IT talent by placing second among seven Asian countries in its maiden ITEE examination, held in Dhaka last year.
Number of passers of the 1st ITEE in Bangladesh is 25 with passing ratio of 15.8 percent that is second high next to Vietnamese among six IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) member countries (Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) which promotes common ITEE in Asian region. After Sunday’s Examination, Bangladesh can apply for membership of ITPEC as any country has to take at least two ITEE examinations before seeking the ITPEC membership.
