UNB, Dhaka :
The Appellate Division upheld a High Court Division order on Monday directing the Election Commission (EC) to register Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) as a political party headed by Boby Hajjaj.
A four-member bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, issued the order, rejecting a leave to appeal filed by the EC. On October 21 last year, the HC ordered the EC to provide registration to NDM.
Later, the EC filed a leave to appeal with the Appellate Division. NDM was formed on April 24, 2017 and Hajjaj moved the EC for its registration in December but the EC turned down the application on June 11 the same year. Later, Hajjaj filed a writ petition with the HC challenging the EC’s decision.
