Tax returns began from Monday across the country, as no annual income tax fair was held due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic
Help desk services have been set up at every tax zone across the country, to help taxpayers file their income tax returns seamlessly.
Tax returns began from Monday across the country, as no annual income tax fair was held due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, for the second time in a row.
The help desk has officials from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) who will answer queries and assist the taxpayers in filing their returns.
Similar to the previous fairs, taxpayers, upon paying their taxes, receive receipts of their returns instantly.
Registration and re-registration for electronic taxpayers’ identification number (e-TIN) are also available at these booths, said NBR spokesperson Syed A Momen.
He also said that although no tax fair is happening this year, all the services related to income tax are being provided.
“The help desks in the regional tax regions are already getting a good response. There are no huge crowds like previous times, but we hope the numbers will increase in the coming days,” the NBR spokesperson also said.
Help desks will provide month-long income tax services, return receipts, information services and e-TIN registration, e-filing activities etc, which are usually found at all tax offices, Momen added.
Meanwhile, it will not be possible to provide daily revenue collection, new TIN, e-registration and other information on a daily basis, like those from the tax fairs. Rather, all the information will be accumulated and announced at the end of this month, he further said.
NBR also informed that taxpayers will be able to file their returns completely online this year, excluding some exceptions.
Additionally, there will also be a tax return filing booth and help desk at the Bangladesh Secretariat and Officers Club from November 1-14 to facilitate the returns of government officials.
For the members of the armed forces, all the information services on return and tax will be provided for two days on November 9-10 at Sena Malancha located at Dhaka Cantonment.
There will also be national tax cards and awards for the best taxpayers in district and city corporations.
