Cautioning the Value Added Tax (VAT) dodgers, National Board of Revenue (NBR) Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan on Tuesday said stern action would be taken if anyone evades VAT intentionally.
The NBR Chairman passed the remarks at the opening ceremony of VAT Day and VAT Week in front of NBR headquarters.
Requesting the businessmen to pay VAT properly, he said, “Those who would not pay VAT they must have to face legal measures.”
Mosharraf also urged the businessmen, who don’t do yet, to complete the online registration process immediately. “None can run business without registration in the country.”
Mentioning that VAT collection growth in four months (July-October) registered nearly 9 percent, he said “New VAT act has been implemented and I am expecting VAT collection would be increased gradually.”
