National Board of Revenue (NBR) has been thinking to launch a mobile app in line with the proposal of the business men to collect Value Added Tax (VAT), said NBR chairman Md Nojibur Rahman.
“We’re seriously thinking to launch a mobile app to collect VAT,” he said while speaking at the opening session of a workshop on VAT and income tax here on Saturday. Member (Tax) of NBR Md. Zakir Hossain made presentation on their respective sectors
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) organized the workshop that was attended, among pothrers, Member (Tax) of NBR Parvez Iqbal, Member (VAT) Barrister Jahangir Hossain and Deputy Project Director, VAT online project Md. Zakir Hossain made presentation on their respective sectors.
NBR chairman Md. Nojibur Rahman said DCCI is a trusted partner of NBR since long. NBR has introduced tax card which was the brainchild of DCCI in 2010, he, adding that NBR is firmly committed to ensure an investment and business friendly environment in the country.
He said the new VAT law is very easy, inclusive, hassle-free and business friendly. The new VAT law will be hassle free and SME friendly, he said.
DCCI president Abul Kasem Khan in his speech said the government is going to enact new VAT law from July 1. “This is completely a new act for us, so the government should create more awareness among the businessmen to make it familiar,” he said.
