The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has collected Taka 75 crore from the two mobile operator companies – Banglalink Limited and Robi Axiata Limited – as their outstanding value added tax (VAT).
Out of the total amount, Banglalink paid Taka 47 crore while Robi paid Taka 28 crore for increase in their respective wealth in land and establishment.
Talking to BSS, Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) Commissioner Muhammad Mubinul Kabir said the NBR had filed lawsuits against the mobile operators for collecting unpaid revenue.
Recently, the cases have been settled under the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process and Banglalink paid Taka 47 crore against three sues while Robi paid Taka 28 crore against four sues, he added.
Mubinul Kabir said another three lawsuits for Taka 30 crore against Banglalink and two cases for Taka 15 crore against Robi are ongoing. The cases will be settled as early as possible and NBR is likely to collect the money soon, he added.
