The National Board of Revenue is mulling a plan to increase the number of tax cards to recognise more taxpayers for their contribution through paying income tax, sources said.
The revenue board is now working on increasing the number of tax cards for individual and corporate taxpayers from the existing 141, said NBR chairman Md Nojibur Rahman at a programme in Dhaka recently.
He said that categories of recipients would be more diversified in future. The categories will include taxpayers from different sectors based on their source of income, profession, social status, etc, the revenue board chairman added. The NBR arranged the programme at its headquarters to distribute income tax cards to five highest individual taxpayers who could not receive their tax cards for the fiscal year 2014-2015.
