The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is looking into bank accounts and transactions of Independent Television Ltd owned by Salman F Rahman, an adviser to Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.
NBR Tax Zone-7 recently wrote to the banks operating in Bangladesh to provide it with information in the accounts of the private station.
The banks have been told to treat the matter as urgent and send information since July 1, 2007 by Feb 26.
Revenue board officials say they generally investigate a company if the information it submits in tax returns are deemed unacceptable or unrealistic.
The firm can also be investigated if there are specific allegations of assets hiding or tax dodges.
