On the occasion of the 116th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, a fair titled AB Bank-Channel i Nazrul Mela 2015 was organised on the premises of Channel i office in the city’s Tejgaon
area on May 25.
Managing Director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor; Head of News and Director, Channel i, Shaikh Siraj; Executive Vice-President of AB Bank Ltd Chowdhury Monjur Liakot; Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of IFIC Bank Shah
A Sarwar; and Executive Director (Marketing) Meghna Group of Industries Asif Iqbal, among
others, inaugurated the event.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by music exponent Sudhin Das, Nilima Das, Khalid Hossain, Mostafa Zaman Abbasi, Asma Abbasi, Azad Rahman, Abdul Mannan, Syed Hasan Imam, poet Asad Chowdhury, Ferdous Ara, Nashid Kamal, Shahin Samad and Lina Taposhi Khan, among others.
For her outstanding contribution in the field of Nazrul Sangeet, veteran Nazrul Sangeet exponent Khalid Hossain and Taranga of California (TOC), a platform to introduce the
literary work of our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to the Western World, were honoured with the
lifetime achievement award.
Music exponent Sudhin Das and directors of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, Shaikh Siraj and Mukit Majumdar Babu presented the award.
After the award giving ceremony, Sudhin Das along with other artistes performed a song Eki aporup rupey maa tomar herinu polli jononi.
Nashid Kamal, Salauddin Ahmed, Abdul Mannan and Rawson Ara, among others, performed songs, while Syed Hasan Imam and Shimul Mostafa recited poems and artists Abdul Mannan and Tanim along
with children painted the poet’s portraits at the fair.
Two Nazrul Sangeet albums
by noted singer Ferdous Ara were also released in the event.
