Nazrul Academy Patrika, the mouth piece of Nazrul Academy, Dhaka has long been upholding the thoughts and message of Kazi Nazrul Islam, the National Poet of Bangladesh. This literary journal, with its research-based articles on the life and literature of the poet, has been contributing towards projecting the image of Nazrul, who championed the cause of love for mankind and revolution to establish universal humanism, irrespective of caste, cread and colour waging a relentless struggle against inhuman deprivation, exploitation and oppression.
The present Research and Publication sub-committee of Nazrul Academy consists of Dr Ashraf Siddiqi, Professor Mohammad Abdul Ghafur, Syed Akhtar Yusuf, Idris Ali and M. Mizanur Rahman.
The contents of the present number under discussion include : Ei Shei Nazrul/Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Nazrul Kabyo O Shongite Gonomukti/ Abdul Muqit Chowdhury, Swadhinota Judde Nazruer Obodan/ M. Mizanur Rahman, Bidrohi Kobitar Chhondo O Olonkar/Hasan Alim, Nazruler Ognibina : Atmoprotyoyer Jatra/Omar Biswas, Kazi Nazrul Islam : Jibon O Sahityo/Gazi Ilahi Bakhsh, Gitikar Nazrul : Mohammad Matiur Rahman, Nazrul Songiter Swornojug : Shilpi Manobendra Mukhopadyay/Mintu Rahman, Nazrul Sahitye Rasulullah (Sm)/Nasir Helal, Nazrul Kabye Puran : Probahomala O Porisonkhyan/Maola Prince, Kazi Nazrul Islam : Bidbishto Bidbesh/Mintu Rahman, Nazrular Sikshabhabna/Kazi Sahana Sultana, Prothom Priya : Nazrul O Nargis/M A Wahid, Nazrul Academy Songbad/Mintu Rahman.
The articles focus on the life and literature of the poet, accl aiming his unique creativity not only in the Bengali literature, but also in the field of world literature.
But inspite of his being the greatest representative of Bangladesh in the literary sphere it has been observed that he is not being given due publicity by some concerned authority or by a section of media, thus undermining the image of the great ‘National Poet.’ Nazrul Academy calls the concerned quarters to rise above this narrow outlook and to be active in projecting the poet nationally and internationally.
The National Poet should be given due importance in all levels of education, specially in the university level making the study of his literature compulsory for the present and the next generation so that our future may be enlightened by the thoughts and message of this Great Poet – unique in revolutionary spirit and universal humanism.
We expect wide circulation of the Nazrul Academy Patrika.
