Songs were written by Abdul Muqit Chowdhury, Babu Rahman and Idris Ali. There was a discussion by Mustafa Zaman Abbasi.
News written by Mintu Rahman.
The articles begin with the editorial, where a focus has been made on the unique revolutionary poet, his universal humanism and uncompromising eternal message for the freedom of the suppressed and deprived humanity. The editorial also focuses on the Bangladesh-Bharat Nazrul Conference 2018.
The articles written by the scholars and Nazrul researchers including the poet’s granddaughter Khilkhil Kazi throw light on his life and literature. The chapter on songs echoes the volume of his contribution Mintu Rahman, leading Nazrul Academy, has stressed on the originality in the research on Nazrul’s life and literature.
The famous singer and scholar on music-Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, who is highly appreciated internationally, in his article has focused on downgrading of Kazi Nazrul Islam by the concerned authority and some deviated media, and commented: “In the history of music of eight centuries Nazrul is the greatest composer………None will be able to check his march towards future for even more one thousand years.” He has also expressed shock for neglecting the contribution of Abbas Uddin, the great legend of music and Nazrul’s companion for rejuvenation of the nation,-both being our literary and cultural heritage. He said this neglecting of great personalities is a crime and has expected that the present greater popularity of Nazrul songs of a larger section of people of both the countries should be patronised to reach our goals of pride nationally and internationally.
We think, the concerned authority and media, who neglect such personalities of our pride, should come to senses and pay the due to the National Poet and others.
We expect wide circulation of the paper. n
