On the occasion of marking the 118th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Nazrul Academy organised a two-day long programme
at Music and Dance Centre Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city’s Segunbagichya area recently.
The Academy also marked the 45 years of bringing back of Nazrul to Bangladesh
permanently by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also to mark the 46 years of Swadhin Bangla Betra Kendra and
celebration of 49 years
of Nazrul Academy on
the occasion.
Noted writer, essayist, artiste and teacher Mostafa Zaman Abbasi chaired the opening
ceremony as the chief guest, while Nazrul researcher,
essayist and General Secretary of Nazrul Academy Mintu Rahman gave welcome speech at the inaugural ceremony
of the festival.
Ekushey Award winner
educationist Prof Md Abdul Gafur received Nazrul Academy Honorary Award 2017 for
his contribution in the field of Nazrul related research works. On the concluding day, noted poet, writer and Nazrul researcher M Mizanur Rahman also received the same honour.
Yaqub Ali Khan, Selim Reza, Bodiuzzaman Badol, Seheli Jahan, Md Tanjim Sohel, Farhan Labib, among others,
also rendered songs
in the festival. n
