Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) detained a member of Bangladesh Navy with a Japan made pistol from Rampura area under Halishahor thana on Tuesday night.
The detained Navy man was identified as Jasim Uddin,37, a Sainik of STW-1,at Mongla base, Khulna, of Bangladesh Navy, said Sadip Kumar Das, Officer-in- charge of Akbar Shah thana.
A patrol team of Akbar Shah thana signalled an auto-rickshaw to stop at the Colonel Hat area, but it sped away, OC Sadip said.
Police chased the three-wheeler that stopped at Rampura area. Police found the pistol while frisking Jasim.
