Bangladesh Navy emerged the champions in the ‘Mujib Borsho’ Shaheed Smriti Hockey Competition defeating Bangladesh Army by 3-1 goals in the final at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Saturday. Bangladesh Army finished runners-up in the hockey meet.
Bangladesh Navy led the first half 1-0.
Russell Mahmud Jimmy of Bangladesh Navy put his team ahead by a field goal in the 27th minute of the play.
Khorshedur Rahman of Bangladesh Navy doubled the margin utilizing a penalty corner in the 37th minute of the game.
Monoj Babu of Bangladesh Army reduced the margin capitalizing a penalty corner in the 42nd minute of the clash.
Roman Sarkar of Bangladesh Navy sealed the fate of the match ( 3-1) by a field goal in the 58th minute of the match.
The hockey tournament was held marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
After the final match, President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Acting General Secretary of BHF Mohammad Yusuf, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Badrul Islam Dipu and other BHF officials were present at the time.
