Bangladesh Navy became champions in the Bangabandhu Federation Cup Basketball Tournament defeating Bangladesh Air Force by 90-44 points in the final at Dhanmondi Gymnasium in the city on Thursday.
Navy led the first half by 46-17 points.
Sajib of Bangladesh Navy top-scored with 39 points and his teammate Mithun scored 13 points.
On the other hand, Tanvir and Shishir of Bangladesh Air Force scored 13 points each.
Bangladesh Basketball Federation arranged the basketball competition marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
After the final match, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest, while Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza was with him as the special guest.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Basketball Federation Lieutenant Commander (Retd) AK Sarkar was present at the time.
A total of eight teams splitting into two groups took part in the basketball meet.
Bangladesh Navy, Dhumketu Club, Bangladesh Police and Josephites Club were in Group-A, while Bangladesh Air Force, Bokhsibazar Club, the Greg’s Club and Flame Boys Club were in Group-B.
Bangladesh Navy stormed into the final after defeating the Greg’s Club by 114-42 points in the first semi-final at the same venue on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Air Force reached the final after beating the Josephites Club by 57-52 points in the second semi-final at the same venue on the same day.
