The 22nd National Training Day will be observed today through various programmes.
Bangladesh Society for Training and Development (BSTD) has chalked out elaborate programmes marking its 35th founding anniversary and 22nd National Training Day, said an official source here on Monday.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the eve of the day wishing all success of the day’s programmes.
“To expedite the socio-economic development of a country, skilled, experienced, professional, service-oriented and industrious workforce is needed,” President Abdul Hamid said in a message marking the National Training Day.
Intensive training plays affirmative role in developing skills, updating knowledge, gathering and exchanging experiences and changing outlook of the workforce, he added.
The government is working relentlessly to make executives and officials at all tiers of the government as human resources through imparting intensive and modern training to them, he said, adding “Observing National Training Day, highlighting the importance of training is a praiseworthy initiative.”
The President lauded the role of BSTD for observing the day and hoped that it will continue its efforts in this regard.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said realizing the importance of training, her government has taken various development and reformation programmes.
“Allocation for training sector was increased. Priority has been given to infrastructural development of the training centers,” she said, adding that course duration of the foundation training for the cadre service officers was extended to six months from four months.
The premier also said various reformation programmes, including expanding
the scope of training in the country and abroad, is being implemented to make
the civil service service-oriented and modern organization.
The BSTD is playing vital role in developing human resources through
conducting researches on training, working with different government and non-
government institutions and organizing higher training programmes, Sheikh
Hasina said.
She hoped that the activities of the BSTD in the coming days will
contribute to implement the government’s ‘Vision-2021’ and “Vision-2041”.
