The National Social Service Day was observed in Rangpur through various programmes on Sunday.
DC Asib Ahsan inaugurated the programmes of the day.
Later, on behalf of Prime Minister, one van with vegetables, a van for passenger transport, wheelchairs among the children with special needs, grave diggers at the graveyard, cash among the cheetah attendants and new clothes among the two children were distributed. Later, a discussion meeting and cultural programme was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Rangpur Civil Surgeon Dr. Hiramba Kumar Roy and Additional District Superintendent of Police Madhusudan Roy addressed the discussion as special guests under the chairman ship of Rangpur Divisional Social Services Office Director (Deputy Secretary) Abdul Motaleb Sarkar. Abdul Matin, Deputy Director of District Social Services delivered the welcome speech. Other speakers were Rangpur Group Director Bir Muktijoddha (Retd) Major Mohammad Nasim, Sushant Bhowmik of Sweden Bangladesh and Arun Chandra Barman, Deputy Director of the Divisional Social Services Office.
