Kishoreganj District Administration, District Police, Shishu Academy, Ruling Awami League, Jasod, Ganatantree Party, CPB, Gono-Forum, NAP, School, College, Madrasha and many socio-cultural organisations observed various programme marking the National Mourning Day on Thursday.
The day’s programme started with the hoisting of National flag at half-mast and raising of flack flags atop all public and private building.
A discussion meeting arranged by District Administration held at Gurudayal Govt. College auditorium in the town on Thursday with Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury in the chair. Rezwan Ahmmad Toufic MP attended as chief guest. Police Super Masrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar), Zila Parished Chairman Adv Md. Zillur Rahman and District Awami League General Secretary Adv M.A Afzol were attended as special guest.
It was addressed among others by Gurudayal Govt. College Principal Prof Md. Imam Ali, ADC (General) Abdllah Al Masud, Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Ganatantry Party District President Advocate Dolon Bhowmic, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, District Awami League Leader Anayet Karim Omi, CAB District Secretary Monour Hossain Rony, District Krishak League Secretary Anowar Hossain Bacchu and Former Freedom Fighter Commander Md. Asad Ullah. A mourning rally was brought out in the town led by D.C Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury and Police Super Masrukur Rahman Khaled BPM marking the Day.
Dupchanchia (Bogura) Correspondent says: The Hindu Religious Welfare Trust and district administration jointly observed the National Mourning Day on Thursday, marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Bogura.
The department drew elaborate programmes to observe the Day with due respect and solemnity. As part of the programme, the national flag fly half-mast atop the office on the day.
A special prayer has been hoisted marking the day presided over by assistance project director (ADP) Jebidas Roy while additional deputy commissioner (Gen) Raihana Islam spoke as chief gust.
The whole function was also directed by FS Emdadul Haque. Assistant Commissioner and executive magistrate Mouly Mondal, president of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad district unit Dilip Kumar Deb, former president of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad district unit Amrito Lal Shaha and councilor Kabiraj Tarun Kumar Chakrobarty spoke among others in the function.
Speakers said the killing of Bangabandhu and most of his family members on the fateful night of August 15, 1975 is the ugliest chapter of the nation’s history. The self-confessed killers of August 15 did not assassinate Bangabandhu alone, but also killed 16 other members of his family, friends and relatives.
They include his wife Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, sons Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russell, daughters-in-law Sultana Kamal and Rosy Jamal, Brother Sheikh Naser, brother-in-law Abdur Rab Serniabat, nephew and eminent journalist Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni, his pregnant wife Arzoo Moni and Colonel Jamil.

The district administration, Awami League (AL), its associate bodies, educational institutions, government departments, socio-cultural and professional organisations observed the day paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu.
The programmes included hoisting of the national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings and educational institutions soon after sunrise.

Rajendra College, discussion, milad, doa mahfil, blood donation and screening of documentary on Bangabandhu. The district administration brought out a huge mourning procession with participation of hundreds of common people, high officials and local politicians.
