The National Mourning Day and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in different districts yesterday with due respect and solemnity. Different organisations took up various programmes marking the Day. Our correspondents and agencies report :
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj says : Kishoreganj District Administration, District Police, Shishu Academy, Ruling Awami League, Jasod, Ganatantree Party, CPB, Gono-Forum, NAP, and many socio-cultural organisations arranged different programmes making the 43rd Martyrdom Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day yesterday.
The Day’s programme started with the hoisting of National flag at half-mast and raising of flack flags atop all public and private building.
A discussion meeting was arranged by District Administration at Art Council Hall Auditorium in the town with DC Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury in the chair yesterday.
SP Masrukur Rahman Khaled BPM and Zilla Parished Chairman Adv Md. Zillur Rahman attended as special guests.
It was addressed among others by ADC (General) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, District Awami League General Secretary Adv M A Afzal, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Md Mujibur Rahman, Ganatantry Party District President Adv Dolon Bhowmic, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Women leader Bilkis Begum, CAB District Secretary Monour Hossain Rony, District Krishak League Secretary Anowar Hossain Bacchu, and Veteran Freedom Fighter Anowar Kamal.
A mourning rally was brought out in the town led by DC Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury and SP Masrukur Rahman Khaled BPM marking the Day.
District Awami League arranged a discussion meeting at its office with Unit President Adv Kamrul Hasan Shahajan.
Hindu Kallyan Trust arranged a discussion at Sree Sree Kalibari premise. DC Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury and SP Masrukur Rahman Khaled attended as chief and special guest.
Bogura Correspondent says: The National Mourning Day was celebrated with befitting manner in Bogura district yesterday .
A colorful rally was brought out leaded by District Administration Bogura elaborate program to observe the day from Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.
Mr.Nur-a-Alam Siddik, Deputy Commissioner Bogura, Ali Asraf Bhuiyan, Police Super Bogura, district Awami League President Alhaj Momotaj Uddin, Samsul Haq Civil Surgeon Bogura, different socio-cultural, political and professional bodies, students, teachers of different educational institutions of the district took part in the rally.
The programmes of the Day include lowering of the national and party flag, a half-mast and hoisting of black flags at the offices and its party offices across the district at dawn, placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of the great leader at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Doa and Milad was also offered at Unique public school commemorating Bangabandhu’s 43th death anniversary on the day. Unique Chairman Tanser Ali PK attended the function as chief guest.
Reciting from the holly Quran, drawing competition, essay completion and debate competition was arranged by different organizations marking the day.
Gazipur Correspondent reports : The National Mourning Day and the 43rd Martyred Anniversary of of the Father of the Natioanl Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujuibur Rahamn was observed at Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) yesterday.
Different programmes including floral wreaths at the Bangandhu’s monuments, mourning rally , essay competition and discussion meeting were held marking the Day.
A discussion meeting and exhibition was held at Kazi Badrudoza zzaman Auditorium on life of Bangabandhu.
Md Shoyeb Hasan, Director ( Service and Supply ) was present as Chief Guest. Among others, Dr Poritosh Kumar Malakar, Director(Training and Communication ) and Dr Md Lutfur Rahman, , Director (Research ) and Syed Nurul Alam, Director (Planning and Evaluation ) were present in the programme.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Tens of thousands of people observed the National Mourning Day here yesterday, paying tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 43rd martyrdom anniversary.
The District Administration, Rangpur Zilla Unit of Awami League (AL) and its associate organisations, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, educational institutions, different government departments and other organisations observed the day through elaborate programmes.
The observance began with hoisting of the national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings and educational institutions after sunrise.
Later, high officials, political leaders, head of different organisations, institutions and departments and common people placed wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after wearing black badges.
A one-minute silence was observed in front of the mural of Bangabandhu and special Munajats were offered there followed by bringing out a mourning procession with participation of thousands of people from all strata.
The District Information Office screened documentary films on ‘Chironjib Bangabandhu’, Osomapta Mohakabbyo’, ‘Amader Bangabandhu’, ‘Swadhinota Amar Swadhinota’ and ‘Swadhinota Amader Ki Kore Halo’ and feature film ‘Guerrilla’at cinema halls and open places here.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed attended a discussion arranged by the district administration at Town Hall Auditorium as the Chief Guest with Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair.
Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Devas Bhattacharya, Police Superintendant Mizanur Rahman, Additional Police Superintendant Saifur Rahman Saif, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its General Secretary Rezaul Karim Raju, Organising Secretary Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, Treasurer Abul Kashem, Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul and Publicity Secretary Rosy Rahman, city AL President Shafiur Rahman Shafi and its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal and General Secretary of district Mohila AL Adv Zakia Sultana Choity, among others, addressed at the discussion.
The city and upazila units of AL and its associate bodies, Bangabandhu Parisahd, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, Rangpur City Corporation, district and upazila units of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, educational institutions and other organisations observed the Day through similar programmes.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: The National Mourning Day and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in this divisional city and its adjoining districts yesterday with due respect and solemnity.
The day is being observed with a fresh vow to materialise the dreams of Bangabandhu to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ and to bring back the fugitive convicted killers of Bangabandhu to execute verdict of the murder case.
At 8.30 am, district judgeship, bar association and public prosecutors jointly took out a mourning procession and paraded the district judge court premises followed by a brief discussion meeting.
At 9.30 am, district administration brought out a mourning procession from the premises of New Government Degree College. The rally ended at Shilpakala Academy.
City and district units of Bangladesh Awami League and its front organizations garlanded the portrait of Bangabandhu at the city unit office.
Afterwards, they took out a large mourning procession and paraded the maincity streets.
Various government and non-government organisations, political parties, socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions, including Rajshahi University and RUET, are observing the mournful day in a befitting manner.
The district administration organised a discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil in the Shilpakala Academy auditorium with Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader in the chair.
A large number of people including government and non- government officials, freedom fighters, political leaders and socio-cultural activists were present at the meeting.
Local units of Bangladesh Awami League hoisted the party flags at half-mast in the morning and placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Portrait of Father of the Nation located at Bangabandhu Chattar of the city at was garlanded by various organisations, including Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, district unit of Bangabandhu (BB) Parishad, BB Prokoushali Parishad, BB RUET Parishad and Ila Mitra Sangskritik Sangha.
Marking the day, children artistes of Ila Mitra Sangha presented songs highlighting the life and works of Bangabandhu.
Various other political personalities and social leaders, including AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Bazlar Rahman and Shafiqur Rahman Badsha of Awami League, Liakat Ali Liku of Workers Party and City FF Commander Dr Abdul Mannan garlanded the portrait of Bangabandhu on AL office premises.
