Nat’l Mourning Day observed at DU

Dhaka University on Monday observed the National Mourning Day and 41st martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner.
National flag was hoisted at half-mast and black flag was hoisted at all university buildings and halls as a mark of respect to the martyrs of August 15, 1975.
A discussion was organised at Teacher-Student center (TSC) auditorium with DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair.
Pro VC (Admin) Prof Dr M Akhtaruzzaman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Kamal Uddin, President of DU Teachers Association Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Joint Secretary Prof Nilima Akhter were also joined the discussion, among others.
The speakers discussed the life and works of Bangabandhu and his contribution towards building the nation.
Prof Arefin said, “We all have to take lesson from the life of Bangabandhu.” He urged all to be united by following the ideals of Bangabandhu against all kinds of terrorism and militancy.
He also inaugurated photo exhibition titled ‘Fountain of Blood on Map’ organised by DU Journalists Association and art competition titled ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ organised by Institute of Fine Arts.
Later, special prayers were offered for eternal peace of the souls of Bangabandhu and his family members.
