Nat`l Mausoleum architect Mainul passes away

UNB, Dhaka:Syed Mainul Hossain, the architect of the National Mausoleum at Savar, died of cardiac arrest at a city hospital on Monday. He was 62.He breathed his last at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) at around 2:30pm.The renowned architect was admitted to the NICVD on Monday morning after he complained of chest pain.In 1978, an open competition was launched in Savar for the national monument’s design where Mainul Hossain’s design won the first prize. By the end of 1982, the memorial stood tall according to his design.Born in 1952 at Dampara village in Munshiganj, he was also conferred upon ‘Ekushey Padak’.
