Center for Peace and Justice of BRAC University arranged a national colloquium titled ‘Empowering Young Women- Promoting Peaceful, Cohesive & Prosperous Bangladesh’ at Brac Inn Centre in the city on Saturday. Charlotte Schlyter, Swedish ambassador to Bangladesh was the chief guest at the event while Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BNCCO, Vice Chancellor, Begum Rokeya University was the special guest.
Dr Kalimullah focused on the importance of women entrepreneurship in uplifting Bangladesh economy. Dr Samia Huq, Associate Professor, Department of Economics and Social Sciences, BRAC University shared her research findings whereas Muhammad Badiuzzaman, Project Coordinator, CPJ shared the lessons learned from the project with the audience.
Among others, Prof Dr Md. Tamim, Pro-Vice Chancellor, BRAC University, Asuka Murata, Programme Specialist, UN Women, Bangladesh, Dr Saber Ahmed Chowdhury, member, Board of governance, WRTI, Begum Rokeya University, Dr Tanvir Fittin Abir, Resource Person, Foundation Training Course, Dr Sohela Mustari, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Kazi Newaz Mostafa, Lecturer, Department of Economics, BRUR were present in the colloquium.
A total of 15 female students of Women Peace Cafe, BRUR received their certificates for the successful completion of a three-day long training session with BRAC. The entire programme was hosted by Manzoor Hasan, Executive Director, Center for Peace and Justice, BRAC University.
