National Youth Day was observed here in Sylhet today in a befitting manner. Local Youth Development Directorate and district administration jointly organized the programme like elsewhere in the country.
In this connection, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of Zilla Parished, chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Joynal Abedin while Divisional Commissioner Md. Jamal Uddin Ahmed attended as the chief guest.
Divisional Commissioner Md. Jamal Uddin Ahmed in his speech said that, it is youth community who can make our country happy and prosperous by executing their energy, devotion, skill, patriotism and honesty. He said that by engaging their creativity with limited resources they can be self-employed without depending on others.
Other speakers mentioning the contributions of the youths in different national crises including the great liberation war said that youths are the most potential resource of a nation and they must not be exploited for evil purposes.
Among others Additional DIG Nazrul Islam, DD Ala Uddin also spoke in this occasion.
It was disclosed in the meeting that Youth directorate of Sylhet has so far given a credit of Taka 7 lakh 5 thousand and provided various training to 16 youths both male and female.

A discussion meeting on ‘Self-working youth forces can ensure sustainable development’ held at Local Art Council Hall with Deputy Director of Youth Development Md. Rukon Uddin Bhuiyan in the chair. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as chief guest.
It was addressed among others by ADC (General) Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil, Sadar UNO Abdullah Al Masud, Jail Super Buzlur Rashid, District Education Officer Md. Shajahan and Senior Journalist Saiful Hoque Molla Dulu.
A colourfull really was brought out in the town led by Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas.

They were addressing the discussion arranged by the Youth Development (YDD) in observance of the National Youth Day-2016 at Shilpakala Academy here with Deputy Director Department of Youth Development (DYD), Narsingdi AKM Kaysar Ali in the chair.
Deputy Director DYD delivered the welcome speech on the theme of National Youth Day-2016 titled “Self employed youth force, foundation of the sustainable development”.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abu Hena Morshed Zaman addressed the function as chief guest.
He urged all concerned to take necessary measures to develop the youths of the country as worthy citizens having education, human values, and patriotism. DC hoped that the youth of the country would be able to build Sonar Bangla.
He said the government is implementing a number of programme for youth development and providing them education, training and employment.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Mahabub Shahin, Senior Assistant Police Super Bashir Ahmed, President of Narsingdi Press Club Morshed Shahariar, Assistant Director Youth Development Abdur Rashid among others, addressed in the meeting.
The speakers stressed for proper utilization of youth forces. They mentioned youths played the most vital role in every field at nation building activities including the language movement, mass upsurge of 1969, war of liberation in 1971 and all democratic movement.
