National Women’s Football Championship begins today

The KFC National Women’s Football Championship begins today at the separate venues across the country. Bangladesh Football Federation has arranged the football meet while KFC is the title sponsor of the football tournament.
A total of 39 teams will take part in first phase of the football tournament. The first phase of the competition will be held on knock-out basis. The venues are: Rajshahi, Laxmipur, Faridpur, Meherpur, Jessore and Rangpur.
One team from each group will play in the final round. Mymensing district, the reigning champions will directly play in the final round. Besides, the best runners-up will get ticket of the final round. The eight teams will play in the final round in Dhaka.
To mark the ensuing football competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) House on Sunday. Deputy-Chairperson of the Women’s Football Committee of BFF Mahfuza Akter Kiron, General Secretary of BFF Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Member of the Executive Committee of BFF Amirul Islam Babu and Representative of KFC Zahidul Alam were present at the conference, among others.
FIFA will give US dollars 20,000 to BFF to run the football competition smoothly.
The champions will be awarded Tk 50,000 while the runners-up will get Tk 25,000 as prize-money.
