National Voters’ Day observed in dists

The fourth National Voters’ Day was observed with the theme of “Mujib Borsher Ongikar, Rokka Korbo Votadhikar” (Mujib Year’s commitment is to protect voting rights) in the city on Wednesday.
The Rangpur Regional Office of the Election Commission with the assistance of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office chalked out programs including bringing out a rally followed by a discussion at the conference room of the Rangpur Regional Office.
Deputy Commissioner Md Asib Ahsan jointly with Rangpur Regional Election Officer G M Sahatab Uddin inaugurated observance of the day by releasing balloons with a festoon on Rangpur Regional Election Office premises.
Later, a rally with participation of government officials and employees, civil society members was brought out on the streets to create awareness among youths on their voting rights to give democracy an institutional shape.
Later, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan virtually addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Rangpur Regional Election Officer G M Sahatab Uddin in the chair.
Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya virtually participated in the discussion as special guest.
Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Md. Asib Ahsan, Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and District Senior Election Officer Farhad Hossain also addressed the occasion.

BSS from Pirojpur adds: The National Voters’ Day was observed in the district as elsewhere in the country in a befitting manner on Wednesday aimed at spreading awareness among the youth on democracy, election and voting rights.
The theme of this year’s day is ‘Mujib Borsher Ongikar, Rokkha Korbo otadhikar'(Mujib Year’s commitment is to protect voting rights).
Marking the day, a discussion meeting was held at the Conference Room of the District Election Officer Office this morning with a call to encourage the common people to cast their votes for strengthening democracy in the country besides highlighting. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Chowdhury Raushan Islam addressed the meeting as the chief guest with District Election Officer Ziaur Rahman Khalifa in the chair.
Chowdhury Raushan Islam said the National Voters’ Day will make the young people aware about the voting rights to give democracy an institutional shape. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Administration) Mollah Azad Hossain, general secretary of the District Awami League Adv M A Hakim Hawlader and former District Commander of the District Muktijoddha Sangsad Gautam Chowdhury, among others, were present on the occasion.
