The RMM Group 27th National Swimming Competition begins at the Gopalganj Swimming Pool & Gymnasium Complex on October20. The Water Polo Competition will also be taken place at the same venue. There is no Diving Pool in Goplaganj. So, the Diving Competition was held at the Bangladesh Army Diving Pool on Thursday.
Bangladesh Swimming Federation has arranged the swimming meet under auspices of RMM Group.
A total of 500 swimmers will take part in the upcoming swimming meet.
There are 38 events in the swimming competition, three events in diving and one event in water polo.
The district sports associations, divisional sports associations, BKSP, universities, education boards, services teams and clubs will participate in the swimming competition.
The budget of the tournament has been estimated at Tk 15,00,000 while RMM Group, the sponsor of the meet has given Tk 15,00,000 to Bangladesh Swimming Federation.
President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Farid Habib, ndc, psc will inaugurate the four-day long swimming competition on October 20 as the chief guest while Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Benazir Ahmed, BPM (bar), Chairman of the RMM Group Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin, Secretary of the National Sports Council Shivnath Roy, DC of Gopalganj Md Khalilur Rahman, Police Super of Gopalganj Md Mizanur Rahman, noted businessman Mostoba Jaman Popi will be present with him as special guests.
Regarding the ensuing swimming competition, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Thursday.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Swimming Federation Md Rajizuddin Rafiz, Joint-Secretary of the Federation and Chairman of the Tournament Committee MB Saif, Chief Financial Officer of RMM Group Premangshu Sarker, Treasurer of the Federation Rezaul Hossain Badshah spoke at the conference.
