The Walton Smart TV 12th National Summer Athletics Competition begins today (Sunday) at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Bangladesh Athletics Federation will arrange the athletics meet under auspices of Walton.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder, MP will inaugurate the two-day long athletics competition as the chief guest while Additional Director of Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn will be present with him as the special guest.
21 events of the meet will be held on the first day (Sunday).
A total of 700 male and female athletes will take part in the 36 events of the competition.
Different district sports associations, divisional sports associations, services teams, universities, physical education colleges, clubs, education boards, Bangladesh Railway, Bangladesh Post and Telecommunication Department will take part in the athletics meet.
The athletes, who can make new national record, will be awarded home appliance on be half of Walton. Besides, Bangladesh Athletics Federation will give a cash of Tk 5,000 each.
The athletics competition will be concluded on September 8.
