The Walton Battery 31st National Senior (Men’s) & National Senior (Women’s) Wrestling Competition begins tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Kabaddi Stadium.
Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation will arrange the two-day long wrestling meet. Walton is the sponsor of the wrestling competition.
The weight categories for Men’s Division are: 57 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg.
The weight categories for Women’s Division are: 48 kg, 53 kg, 55 kg, 58 kg, 60 kg, 63 kg, 69 kg and 75 kg.
The participating teams are: Bangladesh Army, BGB, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar, Dhaka, Madaripur, Gazipur, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Kishoreganj, Comilla, Rajshahi, Chapainababganj, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Khulna, Jessore, Narail, Rangpur, Kurigram, Kushtia and Gaibandha.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza will inaugurate the wrestling meet as the chief guest while President of Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation and Minister for Shipping Shahjahan Khan, MP will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Regarding the forthcoming wrestling competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Additional Director of Walton, Chairman of the Tournament Committee and Vice-President of Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Don, Vice-President of the Federation Kazi Golam Quddus Nabi, General Secretary of the Federation Tabiur Rahman, Head of Battery Division of Walton Md Sirajul Islam, Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Masbah Uddin Azad and Sports Ambassador of Walton Jobera Rahman Linu were present at the conference.
The budget of the competition has been estimated at Tk eight lakh sixteen thousand while Walton gave Tk three lakh and fifty thousand to Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation on Monday. Walton will give Tk one lakh and fifty thousand to the Federation soon.
The gold medallist of each event will get Tk two thousand. Besides, the best man wrestler and best woman wrestler will be awarded by Walton.
