National School Hockey Tournament inaugurates

The First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament was inaugurated by President of International Hockey Federation (FIH) Leonardo Negre at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. After the inaugural programme performers of Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts showed a colourful display.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder, MP, Managing Director of First Security Islami Bank Syed Wasek Mohammad Ali, President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, General Secretary of BHF Khawaja Rahmatullah, Chairman of the National School Hockey Tournament Committee and Chairman of ATN Bangla Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, Secretary of the Tournament Committee ANM Mamunur Rashid, Adviser of the ATN Bangla Mir Motahar Hasan were present at the time.
After the colourful display, an exhibition hockey match between Armanitola Government High School and Fatullah Pilot School was held at the same venue. The match ended in a goalless draw.
A total of 120 Schools from 64 districts will participate in the second edition of the school hockey meet. The first phase of the competition will be held at the 11 venues. They are: Dhaka, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Jessore, Barisal, Chuadanga, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Comilla, Sylhet and Chittagong.
The first phase of the tournament will be held from the last week of January.
32 teams will take part in the final phase scheduled to be held in Dhaka.
