The Walton National Rugby Competition began at the Paltan Maidan on Sunday. First Senior Additional Director of Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn inaugurated the rugby competition by releasing the balloons as the chief guest while national awardee swimmer Laila Nur Begum was with him as the special guest.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Rugby Federation (BRF) Abdullah Al Jahir Shawpan, General Secretary of BRF Mousum Ali, Joint-Secretary of the Federation Mojibur Rahman, Secretary of the Tournament Committee (Men’s Division) Sayeed Ahmed, Secretary of the Tournament Committee (Women’s Division) Parvin Putul were present at the time.
In the day’s matches of the Men’s Division, Chittagong district team blanked Munshiganj district team by 10-0 points, Faridpur district team defeated Bagerhat district team by 5-0 points, Sirajganj district team beat Gazipur district team by 10-7 points, Narail district team drubbed Madaripur district team by 24-0 points, Bangladesh Army overpowered Faridpur district team by 44-0 points and Rangpur district team edged past Sirajganj district team by 13-10 points.
In the day’s matches of the Women’s Division, Narail district team overcame Munshiganj district team by 25-5 points, Dhaka district team eased past Rangpur district team by 30-0 points.
