National Qualification Framework okayed

The government has approved the uniform ‘Bangladesh National Qualification Framework (BNQF)’ aiming to ensure and verify the efficiency of all types of education systems in the country.
The declaration of approval was extended from a virtual meeting of the Steering Committee of Bangladesh Qualifications Framework, chaired by Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, said a UGC press release on Monday.
The entire education system has been divided into two parts with a total of 10 steps and these are: Pre-Bachelor Education (Level 1- Level 6) and Higher Education (Level 6 to Level 10).
The necessary amendments will be made to the first part within the next two months through coordinating with different types of education systems to make it functional and effective.
The uniform framework was developed by coordinating with National Qualifications Framework (NQF), formulated by UGC in 2019 and Bangladesh Qualifications Framework (BQF), formulated by the Division of Technical Education in 2020.
With the approval of the Qualifications Framework, the Bangladesh Accreditation Council will get impetus and would be more dynamic in its activities, added the press release.
Deputy Minister of Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Md. Aminul Islam Khan, Secretary of Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Golam Md. Hasibul Alam, Executive Chairman of National Skills Development Authority Dulal Krishna Saha, UGC Member Professor Muhammad Alamgir, a member of BAC Professor Sanjay Kumar Adhikari, among others attended the meeting.
