The National Mourning Day and the 45th anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed with befitting manner on August 15 (Saturday) in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district.
Apart from the ruling Awami League (AL) Gouripur upazila unit and its front and associated bodies, different political, socio-cultural and educational organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day with due respect and wide community participation.
Discussions, milad and doa mahfils were arranged in different places of 10 unions, Pourashava, schools and colleges. Freedom Fighter Alhajj Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP, Upazila Chaiman Md Mofazzal Hossain Khan, other prominent persons, leaders of the ruling party and its associate bodies placed wreaths at Bangabandhu Chattar in the town of Gouripur.
Afterwards, a discussion was held at Upazila Public Hall with Hasan Maruf Rahat, UNO of Gouripur upazila in the chair, while Freedom Fighter Alhaj Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP as chief guest, Upazila Chairman Md Mofazzal Hossain Khan as special guest and other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience.
Discussion, Doa mahfils were also held separately in different institutions.
