The National Mourning Day and 45th martyrdom of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibor Rahaman was observed in Bagerhat district town and all the nine Upazilas of the district on Saturday with profound respect and maintaining social distance during the ongoing Corona pandemic as else where of the country.
Marking the day, different government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, socio-cultural organizations, educational institutions and Awami League, party in power and its all the front organizations arranged various programmers.
The programmers included hoisting of national flags at half-mat atop all the government, semi-government and private buildings, placing of floral wreaths on the portrays of Bangabandhu, discussion meetings, screening of documentary film show on the life and works of Bangabanhdu and special Doa Mahfils in all religious institutions.
Bagerhat district administration arranged a discussion in the local Swadhinata Udyan on the day. Md. Mamunur Rashid, DC, Bagerhat addressed the discussion as the chief guest while it also was addressed among others by Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat, Shaikh Kamruzzaman Tuku, General Secretary of Bagerhat district unit of Bangladesh Awami League and Chairman of Bagerhat Zila Parisishad, Sardar Nasir Uddin, Upazila Chairman of Bagerhat Sadar, Rijia Parvin, Woman Vice-chairman of the same Upazila Parishad.
On the other hand, another discussion meeting was held in local Shaltala Zila Parishad auditorium on the same day on the life and works of Bangabandhu by the front organizations of Bagerhat district Awami League with Shaikh Kamruzzaman Tuku, General Secretary of Bagerhat Zila Awami League and Zila Parishad Chairman of Bagerhat.
S M Kamal Hossain, Organizing Secretary of Bangladesh Awami Leagued addressed the discussion as the chief guest while it was also addressed among others by the local Awami League leaders Adv.
Hemayet Uddin, Adv. Farid Uddin, Sardar Fakhrul Alam Saheb, Md. Firojul Islam, Farida Aktar Banu Luchi and Adv. Sarifa Hemayet, President of Mahila Zila Awami League, Bagerhat.
