National Mourning Day observed at Southern University

National Mourning Day and the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed at Southern University at their Permanent Campus in Arefin Nagar on Thursday .
Among the various programs on the day of mourning national flag were hoisted at half mast, the raising of the black flag, the holding of the black batch, the special discussion meeting with Khatme Koran, Milad and Doa Mahfil.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr . Nurul Mostafa attended the meeting at the University’s permanent campus conference room in Arefin Nagar , entrepreneur and founder Professor Sarwar Jahan, Dean of various faculties, advisors, department heads, teachers and administrative officials were present during the programme.
Speaking at the meeting, the speakers recalled the sacrifice of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It is our misfortune that we have lost a great leader like Bangabandhu, with the fingertips of which the country was liberated with the participation of patriotic freedom fighters.
They said that it is the responsibility of the teachers to give an idea to the present generation about the significance of National Day as well as the actual history of Bangladesh along with academic education in the classroom. We should remember this great leader in a respectful manner, without dividing him for any political interest.
After the Khatam Koran and Milad, a special prayer was held on August 15, seeking the forgiveness of the souls of the father and his family members.
