Brisk programmes drawn in Raozan: National Mourning Day observed

The 4 3rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day was observed in the port city and district yesterday. .
People from all strata of life paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu, architect of the independent Bangladesh who along his with his family members were brutally murdered on this day, 1975.
Apart from the Chittagong city, north and south district units of Awami League (AL) and their front organisations, scores of socio-cultural organizations, trade unions, district administration, all educational institutions and professional bodies organized elaborate programs to mark the day.
A big congregation on the occasion of the Bangabandhu’s martyred day, was arranged in Raozan Upazila including 14 UPs and one pourshava. About one lakh destitute and people irrespective of caste and creed were feed with rich foods.
In very union parishad, chairman of the respective union organised feeding to about 5000 people, a Raozan corrsespondent said. Raozan Upazila Awami League , Jubo League organised the programme led by Jubo League President Jamiruddin Parvez at Raozan College .
Leaders and workers of Awami League and its front organizations and professional bodies wore black badges throughout the Day.
 The Day’s programmes include hoisting of the national and black flags at half-mast atop all party offices, placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, Qurankhwani, Milad Mahfil, discussion meetings, poetry recitation, essay and quiz competitions.
CU Correspondent adds: A discussion meeting on National Mourning Day was held at Chittagong University Journalists Association’s (CUJA) office yesterday.
Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Iftekhar Uddin was the chief guest while Pro-Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akter and Dean of Faculty of Social Science Professor Dr Farid Uddin were also present as special guest and keynote speaker respectively at the programme organised by CUJA.
CU VC Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury said ;”to glorify the dignity of Bangladesh Bangabandhu spent every moment for the sake of the country.
He is an integral part of world history. So, the ideology of Bangabandhu must be cherished. You have to implement the golden bangla that he wanted.”
CUJA President Bazid Emon presided over the programme where vice-president Mumin Masud, general secretary Faisal, join secretary Imran Hossain, Press Secretary Zubair Chowdhury, Finance Secretary Joy Das and Executive Member Abdullah Rakib and other journalists were also present.
