Societal Events Report :Like previous years National Kite Festival was held at Shimulia Ferry Ghat on the bank of River Padma in Louhajang, Munshiganj recently.Bangladesh Kite Federation organised the day-long festival. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon MP inaugurated the festival as the chief guest, while State Minister for Youth and Sports Ministry Biren Sikder MP and Prof Shagufta Yasmin Emily MP were also present as special guest on the occasion. Second Secretary of Chinese Embassy Huang Li was also present as guest of honour at the inauguration of the festival.Dragon Lion Dance Association performed tiger and lion dance in the festival later ‘kite crossing’ contest was taken place. Thousand of kites including large size pocket kites, stunt kites, dragon kites, series kites, delta and complex kites, box kites, etc were on the sky during the festival.Therefore, Fanush and colourful kite flying were also included in the event.
