The 23rd National Karate Competition began at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
Secretary of the National Sports Council Shivnath Roy inaugurated the two-day long karate meet as the chief guest.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Karate Federation (BKF) Sheikh Ali Ahsan Badol and the other officials of BKF were present at the time.
Hasan Khan of Bangladesh Ansar bagged gold medal in Men’s Individual Kata while Mir Iftekhar of Dhaka District team gained silver medal in the same event and Anwar Hossain of Chitagong Divisional team and Sarwar Hossain of Bangladesh Army jointly earned bronze medal in the same event on the opening day (Saturday).
Younai Chak of Bangladesh Army won gold medal in the Women’s Individual Kata while Munni Khanom of Bangladesh Ansar clinched silver medal in the same event and Debarity Das of Chittagong Divisional team and Sumitra Murmu of Narayanganj District team jointly earned bronze medal in the same event on the same day.
In the Women’s Team Kata, Bangladesh Army collected gold medal while Narayanganj District team bagged silver medal and Bangladesh Ansar and Dhaka Divisional team jointly won bronze medal on the same day.
