National junior bridge team leaves for Italy today

A five-member Bangladesh national junior bridge team will leave for Italy today (Wednesday) to participate in the maiden World Youth Teams’ Bridge Championship to be held in the Parma’s small town of Salsomaggiore Terme from August 3-13.
Bangladesh team comprises of four players-Biswajit Saha, Rafsan Siddiqui, Amirul Islam, Rashedul Hasan-and one official cum Bridge Federation president Mushfiqur Rahman Mohan.
Thirty-two teams from 21 countries-England, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Canada, the USA, Argentina, Colombia, India, Bangladesh, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Hungary, Egypt and Germany-will compete in the world youth meet.
There are four events in the World Championship-the Jaime Ortiz-Pati o Trophy for Junior Teams, the Jos, Damiani Cup for Youngsters Teams, the Gianarrigo Rona Trophy for Girls Teams and the KoO University Trophy for Kids Teams.
Although the opening ceremony will be held on Wednesday (Aug 3), the main competition will start on Thursday and the closing ceremony will be held on August 13.
