Two new national records out of nine events were set when the last report came on Friday afternoon in the 35th National Junior (age group) Athletics Competition that has begun at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Julfikar Nayeem Mijan of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) set the new national mark in the high jump (juvenile) event with a time of 1.96m after eclipsing the previous record of 1.65m set by his teammate Masud Rana in 2017.
On the other hand, Jannatul of BKSP set the new national record of 165.m in the high jump event (juvenile) after breaking her own previous record of 1.61m which was created last year.
A total of 363 boys, girls and juvenile from 40 associations are taking part in the 27 events, organised by Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF).
