National Intellectual property policy to be finalised soon: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu Sunday said the government will finalise the Intellectual property policy soon.
“The policy was ignored since long though it has a significant role to play to create and secure the intellectual property but the government will finalise the national intellectual property policy,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a daylong seminar at CIRDUP auditorium organised by Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks to mark the World Intellectual Property Day.
Established in 2001, World IP Day is celebrated in 185 countries across the world including the member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) which encourages engagement among governments, private industry, and the public on IP promotion and protection.
The theme of this year is “Get up, stand up. For music” to reflect on the contributions of both past and present Bermudian musicians whose diverse and innovative works defined the traditional Bermudian music.
Cultural minister Asaduzzaman Noor was the special guest of the programme while Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Acting registrar of Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks M Elius Bhuiyan and professor of Dhaka University Begum Nasrin Ela were present with acting secretary of Industries Ministry M Forhad Uddin in the chair.
Amu said, “Bangladesh has set her ambition to be a middle income country by 2021 when our nation and our people will be celebrating 50 years of our glorious independence.”
