National star studded Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force emerged group champions with all-win to reach the quarterfinal of the ATN Bangla 31st National Hockey Gold Cup Championship eliminating their rivals at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here on Sunday.
The sailors’ team, which earned a record breaking 43-0 goals victory over Narail District and 31-0 goals win against Gazipur District in previous two group matches, made another impressive 27-0 goals victory over Meherpur District in their 3rd and last group match on Sunday.
Farhad Ahmed Setul ( 5 goals), Deen Islam (5 goals) and Roman Sarker (4 goals) made hat-trick for Bangladesh Navy.
Besides, Fazle Rabbi (3 goals), Mamunur Rahman Chayan (3), Rimon Kumar Ghosh (3), Imran Hasan Pintu (1), Kamruzzaman Rana (1) and Krishna Kumar (1) were the other scorers for the sailors’ team.
The Bangladesh Air Force also smartly booked a seat for quarterfinals as group champions outplaying Patuakhali District by 11-0 goals in their last group match on Sunday after beating Rajshahi and Khulna in first two matches.
Prosenjit (4 goals), Billal Hossain (3), Kaushik Rahman (1)m Avioshek mahmud (1), Shahidul Islam (10 and Saddam Hossain (1) were the other contributors for Air Force team.
In the day’s other matches, Gazipur District defeated Narail by 8-0 goals while Rajshahi District crushed Khulna by 12-0 goals at the same venue.
