The government has lunched three digit short code 999 as national help desk service to ensure emergency response to fulfill citizen’s needs.
Information and Communication technology(ICT) Division has developed apps and website under its pilot programme to introduce the national help desk service for improving overall citizen services by providing emergency response, an official release said on Thursday.
Under the national help desk service, police, fire services and ambulance services will be
given in case of any emergency needs. Services of Bangladesh Police, Department of Fire Service and civil Defence and Plus one, a private organization, will be ensured through the services, the official release added.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith and State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak opened apps and websites of the national help desk service at a function of Digital World-2016 held at International Convention City, Bashundhra. Palak said, “National help desk service was introduced in the United Kingdom (UK) in 1937, in the United States of America in 1968 while in Bangladesh in 2016.”
