The First National Gensiriu Karate Competition begins today at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur.
Bangladesh Martial Art Confederation and Bangladesh Jujutsu Association will jointly arrange the four-day long competition.
A total of 250 karatekas will compete in the meet. The competition will be held in Senior Division (Men’s & Women’s) and Junior Division (Boys’ & Girls’). The events of the meet are: Kumi and Kata.
Meanwhile, the First Jujutsu Competition will start tomorrow at the same venue. The competition will be held in three disciplines. They are: Do So, Fighting System and Ni-Waja.
Chief Coach of International Gensiriu Karate Do Federation Sihan Yasitu Suzuki of Japan will conduct the two competitions.
After the competitions, District Governor of Lions Club International MK Bashar will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Golam Faruque Khondker Prince will preside over the prize-giving ceremony.
