National Fisheries Week begins in dists

Celebration of National Fisheries Week-2015 began in the district on Tuesday as elsewhere in the country with the slogan “In Ocean, River, All Water, Fish Culture Creates Gold”.
Marking the week, district administration and department of fisheries chalked out elaborate programmes that will be held till August 03.
In the morning, a big colorful rally led by Additional Divisional Commissioner Md. Al -Amin brought out from DC Office and terminated at Zilla Parishad (ZP) campus after parading the main roads of the City.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the auditorium of Zila Parisad with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Mirajul Islam Ukil in the chair.
Additional Divisional Commissioner Md. Al -Amin addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by district fisheries officer Sonkor Ronjon, Sadar upazila fisheries officer, fish cultivator.
Gopalganj Correspondent reports: A seven-day long National Fisheries Week-2015 began with a befitting manner in Gopalganj on Tuesday.
National Fisheries Week-2015 celebrating committee, Gopalganj has organised the fisheries week and it continuing till August 03, 2015.
Rally, discussion meeting, fish relishing and prize distribution to make the fisheries week.
Chowdhury Emdadul Haque, Administrator, Zilla Parishad, Gopalganj, S.M. Imran Hossain, SP, Gopalganj and SK Lutfar Rahman Bachchu, Chairman, Upazila Parishad, Gopalganj Sadar spoke as the chief and special guests respectively and Mohammad Mominur Rahman, ADC (Gen.) Gopalganj presided over the chair.

On the occasion they brought out a colourful rally & chanting slogans from DC Office premises the rally paraded main road in the city.
Chuadanga Correspondent says: Different function were organised by the Fisheries Department from 28 July to 3 August marking the Fisheries Week in Chuadanga district town and different Upazilas Headquarters of Chuadanga district on Wednesday.
A discussion on pisiculture was held in the Chuadanga Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium hall room. Abu Syed ADC and ASP Sufiullah were chief and special gusts respectably at the discussion meeting. The meeting was presided over by ADC General Anjumanara and the discussion addressed among others by Chuadanga District Fisheries Officer Monirul Islam, A rally brought out on the occasion. Fish fries were released in Mathabhanga River near at Chuadanga police park on the occasion.
Narsingdi Correspondent reports: Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi (Rev ) Md. Kamal Hossain said pisciculture is one of the most profitable businesses with maximum return from minimum investment.
He said the fisheries sector playing an important role in food security employment generation, poverty alleviation and foreign currency earning.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner (Rev) Kamal Hossain called upon all particularly the unemployed young to undertake pisciculture in pond, water bodies and wherever water is available in their respective areas to mitigate the country’s protein deficiency and improve the overall socio economic condition as to implement the Governments vision 2021.
Dupchanchia Correspondent says: A view exchange meeting with local journalists was held on Thursday here in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district to celebrate National Fisheries Week . Presided over upazila fisheries officer Maksudur Rahman in his office premises. Fisheries officer said that due to dishonesty of fishermen and frequent dry of water based pond, canal, river and khari the indigenous species fishes are on the way of declining from Bogra district.
Local people sources said around four big rivers several hundred ponds and numerous water steams (locally known khari) are remained here in 12 upazila. To drive insect, use of insecticide both in cropland and water steam may be considered another cause of declining fishes from the district and unabated use of fine nets for fishing in the water bodies, poor depth in river waters and filling up of their water bodies by illegal encroachers are also among the reasons behind the fall in production of the local fish. Besides, farming and marketing of the high yielding species fishes have been enhanced significantly during the last couple of years.

With the slogan “In Ocean, River, All Water, Fish Culture Creates Gold,” Fisheries Department and District Administration jointly organised a discussion at District Shilpakala Academy auditorium here on the opening day.
Speakers at the meeting said implementation of various development programmes in Fisheries sector has increased the overall fish production in the country. They said if the development programmes continue the country will be enriched with fish resources.
